Partners In Conservation collaborates with
seven artisan cooperatives in Rwanda and the
Democratic Republic of Congo. Some of the
Rwandan artisans make delicate banana-leaf
cards and exquisite fabric items. These women
told us that it is difficult for some of them
to "see" small pieces of banana
leaves or the tiny stitches needed to embroider
faces on dolls.
Partners In Conservation received a request
from the ladies for magnified reading glasses.
The glasses are in short supply in Rwanda
and very expensive. Some of the gorilla trackers
and the staff at the Imbabazi Orphanage would
also benefit by receiving a pair of glasses.
There are approximately 350 people whose sight
would be improved by magnified glasses.
If you would like to participate in PROJECT:
"SEEING CLEARLY", you can purchase magnified
glasses–all strengths are needed. (We
can only accept non-prescription glasses.)
Sam's
Club sells a package containing 3 pair
of glasses for $12.99. Amazon.com
is another good resource, they carry glasses
for as little as $4.99 a pair or 4Readers.com
has a special for 3 pair of glasses for $9.99.
When purchasing glasses, please choose styles
that you think are attractive and would enjoy
wearing yourself. PIC representatives will
distribute the glasses.
Men and women benefiting from your generosity
will "see" the world more clearly, thereby,
enabling them to more easily make hand-crafted
items or read without difficulty. On their
behalf, thank you for your kindness.
 Please mail glasses to:
